Authorities have ‘sufficient evidence’ to prosecute accused

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, May 2, 2013) – In Papua New Guinea, Madang police and warders conducted a dawn raid on a village on Karkar Island on Tuesday and arrested four prime suspects involved in the recent rape of an American scientist.
However, five of the nine suspects, including perhaps a grade five student, are still on the run, according to police.
The four arrested suspects were put on a boat and ferried to Kubugam, a boat-stop outside of Madang town before being loaded onto police vehicles and driven into town under heavy police escort late Tuesday night.
The suspects, all in their 20s and have been identified as Kadaman Nanui, Muluk Panuluang, Timothy Damusop and Kabiang Lod, all from Gamog village.
