‘Smoke-Free’
Authorities hope to curb, control tobacco usage in Solomons

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Star, June 4, 2013) – Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and Public Service offices have been declared smoke free zones.
This was declared during events to mark World No Tobacco Day, Friday.
SINU’s pro-vice chancellor (Academic) Dr. Patricia Rodie said the university’s campuses and premises are now smoke free zones.
"Students, staff, and visitors are not allowed to smoke anywhere in the campuses except for designated areas," Rodie said.
"Curbing tobacco consumption is a social responsibility and it is every body’s business. We must ensure that tobacco consumption is minimized and controlled in our homes and communities.
