Cook Islands Prime Minister Dr. Joe Williams has left Rarotonga to attend the 30th South Pacific Forum in Palau.
Acting Chief of Staff George Turia is accompanying him.
The Forum, which is composed of the 16 Heads of State or Heads of Government in the region, including the Cook Islands, meets annually to consider the most important economic, environmental, legal, political, security and other issues affecting the region.
The Forum charts the course to be followed by the region over the coming year.
This is the Prime Minister’s first Forum. He will represent the Cook Islands and hold bilateral discussions with other Forum countries and representatives of Forum dialogue partners. The partners include Canada, the People's Republic of China, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
