SUVA. Fiji (Fiji Times, Oct. 2) – Pacific songbird Vanessa Quai, has won Europe's second largest musical festival beating artists from countries like the United States and the United Kingdom.
The 17-year-old Quai, of Fijian and Vanuatu heritage, took top honors at the Golden Stag International Music Festival in Brasov, Romania last week.
The win has brought offers from major record companies in Europe and the United States.
As part of her win, Vanessa will travel to the U.S. to participate in a fundraising concert for the victims of the Hurricane Katrina, her father and manager Nigel said.
He said big names in the music industry like, Cliff Richard, Boyz II Men, Boy George, UB40, Pink, Dianna Rose, Ray Charles, Tom Jones and Ricky Martin have been participants and won in previous RTV Golden Stag International Music Festival.
