The Commission on Decolonization still is unsure how to proceed with the implementation of decolonization education in Guam’s schools. Commissioners produced a lengthy debate Tuesday on whether or not the commission should be in charge of managing the curriculum, which would mandate teaching students topics ranging from colonial history to Guam’s political status.

The Nauru government has announced it will appoint an outside judge to hear the trial of 16 people defending charges over an anti-government protest in June 2015. The Nauru justice minister, David Adeang, in a statement to parliament, said that, because of the number of defendants, the complexity and likely length of the trial, they will appoint an acting judge just for this case. He said that judge would be a recently retired Australian Supreme Court or Federal Court judge.

The Commonwealth Lottery Commission on Monday extended for the third time the opening deadline of the Imperial Pacific Resort and Casino by six more years from now. The commission amended the Casino License Agreement, or CLA, for the fifth time to extend the deadline to complete Phase 1 to Aug. 13, 2023, and the deadline to complete Phase 2 to Aug. 13, 2028. Phase 1 involves the construction of the Imperial Pacific Resort and Casino in Garapan. Phase 2 involves the integrated resort in Marpi.
