SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, Dec. 24) - Some 88 Chinese students attending Saipan University will spend their first Christmas outside China worrying where to get food.
While most of the students are not Christians, they said they would want to celebrate Christmas on this predominantly Roman Catholic island.
However, Wang Rui, 33, who acts as the spokesman and interpreter of the group, said they "feel very sad."
They don’t have enough food and money, he said.
Several church-based organizations have invited the students to join them, but Rui said they might decline the invitations because they don’t have any means of transportation.
Most of the students did not enroll after the end of their first semester last Dec. 19.
They said they are waiting to get their refund or a temporary work authorization.
