SAIPAN, CNMI (Saipan Tribune, June 1) – Lawmakers from 12 island governments in the Pacific will gather on Saipan next week for the 25th General Assembly of the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures.
The CNMI Legislature will host the assembly from June 5-7, 2006. The theme of the meeting is "Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources for the Pacific Islands."
APIL is composed of legislative representatives from the Northern Marianas, American Samoa, Guam, Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, Yap, the Marshall Islands, Palau, Hawaii, Nauru, and Kiribati.
Reps. Martin B. Ada and Absalon V. Waki Jr. are the CNMI representatives appointed to APIL.
Three speakers have been invited to talk about alternative and renewable energy.
