SAIPAN, CNMI (Mariana Variety, Jan 4) - The Saipan seaport accommodated five military vessels last month, which brought in 293 service members to the island.
Commonwealth Ports Authority board member Antonio S. Camacho, chairman of the seaport facilities committee, said these vessels were the USNS Watson with 39 personnel; USNS Watkins, 40; USNS Martin, 37; USNS Charlton, 40; and USS Buffalo, 137.
The vessels docked here during the November 18 to December 20 periods.
Commercial vessels made 37 port calls during the same period.
According to the summary of passenger fee collection at the port of Saipan, total revenue in November amounted to US$6,049 and US$9,708 in December.
On Rota, MV Super Shuttle which is the only vessel servicing the island docked there on November 19, December 9 and 16.
The estimated revenue for the Rota port was US$5,399.
