Japan, U.S. mainland, Micronesia among stops
By Haidee V. Eugenio SAIPAN, CNMI (Saipan Tribune, Aug. 1, 2011) – Gov. Benigno R. Fitial wrapped up during the weekend almost a month of off-island travel both for medical reason and official functions.
Fitial left Saipan on July 5 and came back yesterday, July 31.
The governor's first stop was to Nagoya, Japan where he was to have a coronary angiogram.
However, the Fitial administration has yet to confirm whether such procedure was done.
After Japan, Fitial went to San Francisco, California for the meeting of the Region 9 Federal Regional Council.
He then proceeded to Washington, D.C. to testify against a bill that Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan introduced, and on the implementation of U.S. Public Law 110-229 which placed CNMI immigration under federal control.
Sablan's HR 1466 proposes a "CNMI-only resident status" for four groups of people, including those who have U.S. citizen...
