FORMER TUVALU AND SOLOMON ISLANDS CHIEF JUSTICE DAVIS DIES

CANBERRA, Australia (July 31, 1997 - PACNEWS)---Sir Renn Davis, a former Chief Justice of the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu, has died in Europe at the age of 68.

After serving as the British Judge in the New Hebrides Condominium, now Vanuatu, he took up the position of Chief Justice of the Solomon Islands in 1976 and then of Tuvalu in 1978.

Before his New Hebrides assignment, he was Solomon Islands Attorney General, in 1992, and a legal advisor to the Western Pacific Commission.

Sir Renn Davis was on his way to the Handel Music Festival in Leipzig, Germany, when he died.
