HONIARA, Solomon Islands (August 4 - PACNEWS)---The Solomon Islands will elect a new Prime Minister on August 27.

Caretaker Prime Minister Solomon Mamaloni made the announcement in the capital of Honiara, on Guadalcanal, pointing out that the Melanesian country's new Prime Minister will be elected three weeks after this week's national elections.

Solomon Islanders go to the polls Wednesday to elect a 50-member Parliament.
