NORFOLK ISLAND FLIGHTS

NOUMEA, New Caledonia (August 19, 1997 - PACNEWS)---Air Caledonie's weekly charter service from Noumea to Norfolk Island will be temporarily suspended later this year to allow work to begin on a new terminal at Noumea's domestic airport, Magenta.

The charter service is used primarily by New Caledonian passengers who want to spend a holiday weekend in Norfolk, which is two hours and 20 minutes flight time away.

The new terminal planned for Magenta will include permanent customs facilities, allowing for the expansion of international flight service.

Meantime, Air Caledonie charter flights between New Caledonia and New Zealand from Noumea's international airport will expand, allowing New Caledonian residents to enjoy skiing vacations in New Zealand and Kiwis to benefit from the French Melanesian territory's surf and sand.
