NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga (September 4, 1997 - PACNEWS)---Two new companies are being set up in Tonga to manufacture powdered squash pumpkin and noodles at the Kingdom's Small Industries Center in Ma'ufanga, on the main island of Tongatapu.

Acting center manager Tevita Vaa'ivaka says other companies also have expressed interest in acquiring space at the government-operated facility.

Increased demand from overseas markets for Tongan products, Vaa'ivaka notes, has resulted in some of the 30 existing businesses at the center requesting expansion room.

The Small Industries Center generates monthly revenue of about $8,000.
