APIA, Samoa (October 15, 1997 - Radio Australia)---Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Malielegaoi, has told a visiting delegation from American Samoa that his country will not revert to being called Western Samoa.

The American Samoan delegation says Malielegaoi promised tough action if holders of Samoan passports are barred from American Samoa.

American Samoan delegation member Seti Lopa says what has happened shows the arrogance of the leaders of Samoa.

Meanwhile, Samoan opposition leader Tuiatua Tamasese, who warned of the likelihood of a fallout over the new name, is urging consultation between both governments to halt growing bad feelings. He says names are not as important as the bond which ties the two Samoas together.
