AGANA, Guam (October 27, 1997 - PIDP/CPIS)---The University of Guam's College of Nursing and Health Sciences is now offering a satellite-delivered distance learning course titled Nutrition for Health Professionals.

Earlier available only to students in the Republic of Palau and Pohnpei state in the Federated States of Micronesia, it now also is offered to health workers in the other three FSM states --Chuuk, Kosrae, and Yap-- the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and, via the University of Hawaii's PEACESAT satellite, some South Pacific areas as well.

In efforts to enhance the value of the nutrition course, a five-day training workshop was held at the University of Guam earlier this month for technicians and nurse coordinators from each juristiction.

The training course was funded by a grant from Japan's Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
