FIJI VICE PRESIDENT RATU SIR JOSAIA TAVAIQIA DIES

SUVA, Fiji (November 17, 1997 - PACNEWS)---Fiji's Vice President, Ratu Sir Josaia Tavaiqia, has died at his home village of Viseisei after a long illness. He was 66.

A family member said funeral arrangements for Ratu Sir Josaia, who also was a paramount chief with the title Tui Vuda, will be made final after Fiji President, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, has been informed officially.

A state funeral is a possibility because of Ratu Sir Josaia's position as Vice president

Adi Kuini Speed said Rutu Sir Josaia's death is a great loss to the chiefly establishment and he will be sorely missed.
