PALIKIR, Federated States of Micronesia (November 19, 1997-PIDP/CPIS)--- In preparation for anticipated drought conditions in the Federated States of Micronesia --expected to result in the coming months from the current Pacific Ocean El Niño weather phenomenon-- Yap Senator Isaac Figir has introduced a bill in the FSM Congress to fund development of a variety of water facilities projects nationwide.

Figir has requested an appropriation of $2 million to construct water storage tanks, neighborhood catchments and wells, and desalination facilities.

The proposed legislation calls for state water project allotments of $800,000 for Chuuk, $600,000 for Pohnpei, $400,000 for Yap, and $200,000 for Kosrae.
