NEW ZEALAND FUNDING SAMOA POLYTECHNIC IMPROVEMENTS

APIA, Samoa (November 27, 1997 - PACNEWS)---New Zealand has pledged $940,000 to improve the quality of teaching at Samoa Polytechnic and to develop new horticulture and tourism programs.

The funding, provided through the New Zealand Official Development Assistance (NZODA) project, follows earlier development aid provided by New Zealand for the Samoan educational institution.

To be spent over five years, the funding also includes support of an academic adviser. He is Warwick Sherwood, formerly of Christchurch Polytechnic in New Zealand.
