SUVA, Fiji (December 4, 1997 - PACNEWS)---Fiji's local airline, Air Fiji, is being investigated over an alleged breach of international aviation regulations.

Investigating officer Keith Pickett, who is conducting inquiries into the recent series of incidents involving the airline, says he is now looking into claims that the aircraft transported drums of fuel as cargo, Radio Fiji reports.

Air Fiji is alleged to have carried drums of fuel bound for Savusavu out of Nausori Airport, which Captain Pickett says is a serious breach of international flight regulations. He says even more serious is the allegation that four Air Fiji staff were also on board the same flight.

Investigations are expected to be completed within 60 days.
