PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (December 21, 1997 - PACNEWS)--- The Board of Directors of Papua New Guinea's Port Moresby General Hospital will now decide on what donations of equipment are acceptable to the hospital.

Chairman of the Board Sir Brian Bell says the new policy is aimed at ensuring that donations are technically compatible with the hospital’s existing equipment.

He says the policy also will prevent accepting equipment which cannot be adequately maintained, because of the unavailability of spare parts.

Sir Brian says under the Board-approved policy persons or organizations wishing to donate equipment and services should first contact the hospital's chief executive officer, Doctor Chris Marjen, for additional information.
