HONIARA, Solomon Islands (December 30, 1997 - Radio Australia)---Solomon Islands Prime Minister Bartholomew Ulufa’alu says his country’s government employees need to upgrade their academic qualifications.

The Prime Minister says the Solomon Islands is at the lower end of the scale in terms of academic qualifications, compared to other Pacific Islands region countries.

Those with higher educational qualifications, he says, should be promoted to senior positions in the public service, while the current senior post holders undergo advanced training.
