AGANA, Guam (January 1, 1998 -PIDP/CPIS)---The devastation caused by Typhoon Paka last month on Guam is delaying the reopening of public schools after the year end holidays.

Department of Education spokesman Tony Diaz says because of the lack of adequate utilities, including electricity and water, the planned January 5 re-start of classes will be delayed at least a week.

He expects to announce a formal school start date next week.
