SAMOA’S PARLIAMENT SPEAKER TAKEN ILL IN PORT OF SPAIN

APIA, Samoa (January 20, 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---Samoa's Speaker of Parliament, Toleafoa Faafisi, became ill and was hospitalized while attending the 14th Commonwealth Speakers and Clerks Conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Reports from Apia indicate that Toleafoa probably suffered a heart attack during the meeting.

The Speaker’s hospitalization was announced to Parliament Tuesday by Deputy Speaker Mulitalo Siaufausa. He said details of the Speaker's illness and condition are not yet available.
