PNG SEEKS TELECOMMUNICATIONS HELP FROM ISRAEL

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (February 22, 1998 - Radio Australia)--- Papua New Guinea's government is seeking assistance from Israel to improve PNG's telecommunications systems.

Minister of Communications Simeon Wai is leading a government delegation to Israel which includes the Chairman of Telikom, Dr. John Mua, and Telikom's Chief Engineer, Clarke Kuliniasi.

The delegation will visit Telrad Israel Limited, which is under contract to digitize PNG Telikom's switching technology.

Mr. Wai says his visit will also enhance bilateral ties between PNG and Israel.
