HONOLULU, Hawaii (February 27, 1998 - PIDP/CPIS/Hulsen)---The Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia has confirmed plans for the FSM to host the 1998 South Pacific Forum, August 21st to the 27th, on the capital island of Pohnpei.

FSM Vice President Leo Falcam, chair of the meeting's organizing committee, says preparations for the 29th annual Forum already have begun. Assisting are national and local government officials, traditional leaders and representatives from the private sector.

The FSM previously hosted the Forum in 1991. Last year's meeting of the regional organization's 16 member countries took place in Rarotonga, the Cook Islands.
