SUVA, Fiji (February 28, 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---Two of Fiji domestic airlines, Air Fiji and Sunflower Airlines, will increase ticket prices effective March 1.

The 7.5 percent airfare increase follows approval from the Air Transport Licensing Authority and is seen as an effect of the recent devaluation of the Fiji dollar by 20 percent.

In a joint statement, the two airlines said the devaluation has increased their costs, especially fuel, insurance, and engine maintenance.

The airlines initially asked for a fare increase of higher than 7.5 percent, but have accepted that approved by the Fiji government agency.
