DENGUE FEVER CLAIMS ANOTHER LIFE IN FIJI

SUVA, Fiji (March 8 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---The dengue death toll in Fiji has risen to 11 with the death of a 41-year old man in the western town of Nadi.

This is the first dengue-related death reported from outside the capital, Suva.

According to the latest statistics released by the Fiji Ministry of Health, the number of new dengue cases nationwide has decreased.

The only increases were reported from the Fiji islands and provinces of Kadavu, Lakeba and Cakaudrove.

The total number of dengue fever cases reported since the outbreak started in December last year now has reached 20,000.
