PORT VILA, Vanuatu (March 21, 1998 - PACNEWS)---The President of Vanuatu's Vanua'aku Pati, Donald Kalpokas, says establishment of a leadership code is a priority matter for the future coalition government, which he is most likely to head as Prime Minister.

Kalpokas also would also like to see the re-enactment of the Ombudsman's Act, which was repealed during in the past Parliament.

As long as the person occupying the post is serving the purpose of the office, the Vanua'aku Pati head said, he would want the position maintained.

A leadership code, he commented, would further enhance the functions and duties of the Ombudsman's office, headed by Marie-Noelle Ferrieux-Patterson.

Kalpokas and National United Party's Father Walter Lini last week signed a memorandum of agreement to form Vanuatu's next coalition government. As a result, Kalpokas is expected to be elected Prime Minister when the 52-member Parliament convenes in Port Vila on March 30.
