PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (March 24, 1998 - Radio Australia)--- Australia's Government aid agency, AusAid, says Papua New Guinea's drought has highlighted serious, longtime water supply deficiencies.

The aid agency says an estimated 77-percent of Papua New Guinea's people have no source of clean drinking water.

Water issues, AusAid says, will be an important focus of its future work with the P-N-G Government, adding that an Australian-funded expert will coordinate the work of a water subcommittee as part of the P-N-G drought committee.
