NIUE TELECOM TO INSTALL CARD PHONES IN VILLAGES

ALOFI, Niue (March 29, 1998 - PACNEWS)---A plan to install public telephones capable of accepting phone cards in villages around the island nation of 2,500 residents, has been announced by Niue Telecom.

The target date for completion of the project, however, has not been determined.

Also, in a move to provide additional telephone services for the public, Niue Telecom has installed a free phone at the market in the capital of Alofi, the Niue Economic Review reports. Without incurring a telephone charge, growers now can make local calls to vendors and stall holders can be contacted by customers who wish to place orders for produce.
