HONIARA, Solomon Islands (April 22, 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---The Japanese Chargé d’Affairs in Honiara, Hideo Nomoto, has expressed concern over the malicious acts of some Solomon Islanders toward Japanese-funded projects in the country.Nomoto cited, as an example, damage to the Honiara Central Market House, which was funded by Japan, the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Company reports.

In another case, Nomoto said the handing over of the recently completed Honiara water supply system had to be delayed because of damages caused to one of the facility's wells.

Cooperation between the Solomon Islands and Japan, he suggested, is being wrecked by a few "heartless people."
