SUVA, Fiji (May 4, 1998 - PACNEWS)---Fiji's transport minister, David Pickering, says a new air services agreement signed between Fiji and New Zealand Saturday will allow Air Pacific to fly passengers to other parts of the world from New Zealand.

Air New Zealand currently flies from Fiji's Nadi International Airport to European, North American, Pacific and Asian destinations.

The agreement was signed by Pickering and his New Zealand counterpart, Maurice Williamson, in Suva, Fiji's Island Networks Corporation reports.

Pickering says that Fiji stands to benefit greatly from the new agreement because it will allow Fiji's airlines to schedule flights out of New Zealand to Honolulu, Los Angeles and Papeete, for example.

Williamson also expressed delight at the agreement, saying it would give the airlines of both countries increased opportunities, especially in areas with strong tourism markets.
