COOK ISLANDS CONTRACEPTIVE CHARGES INCREASE

RAROTONGA, Cook Islands (May 10, 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---Women using contraceptive pills in the Cook Islands now have to pay an extra dollar for a month's supply.

Packets now cost $NZ 3.00 ($US 1.60).

The cost of a three-month contraceptive injection now is $NZ 1.00 ($US 0.55), Radio AKTIV-Cook Islands reports.

A family planning unit spokesperson says that the slight increase in the costs of pills and injections is to help the unit cover costs.
