NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga (May 18, 1998 - PACNEWS/Ioane)---The Tongan government has warned local importers against bringing second-hand vehicles manufactured more than ten years ago into the Kingdom.

The government, in issuing the warning, said violators would bear the cost of returning old and prohibited vehicles to their countries of origin if the regulation is ignored, Radio Tonga reports.

The government made the decision in view of the increasing number of broken down and rusting vehicles in Tonga, which are becoming traffic and environmental hazards.
