APIA, Samoa (June 29, 1998 - PACNEWS)---Samoa's Prime Minister, Tofilau Eti Alesana, during a speech in Parliament, called on Attorney General Brenda Heather to resign because she "cannot be trusted."

He said his confidence in the attorney general is "finished."

Heather was unavailable for comment.

Alesana’s criticism arises from speculation that Heather leaked information to opposition leader Tupua Tamasese regarding the bidding process for a $US 500,000 prayer temple the Prime Minister ordered built on a hillside overlooking the capital, Apia. The temple opened earlier this month.

Opposition leader Tamasese has denied the accusations, saying he had never communicated with Heather about the matter.
