CANBERRA, Australia (July 2, 1998 - PACNEWS)---Papua New Guinea's Milne Bay Airlines (MBA) has resumed service to Australia after flights were suspended last month because of concerns about safety standards.

The ban on the airline, which operates international flights between Port Moresby and Cairns in Far North Queensland, came into effect on June 11, when MBA failed to respond to a clearance deadline set by Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Earlier, a safety check on MBA carried out by CASA and the PNG Office of Civil Aviation had found a number of deficiencies.

The problems have now been resolved. The airline's suspension was lifted last week.
