NEW ELECTIONS FOR WALLIS AND FUTUNA

WALLIS, Wallis and Futuna (July 30, 1998 - Radio Australia)---New elections will be held in the French Pacific territory of Wallis and Futuna later this year because some of last March's election results have been declared null and void due to voting irregularities.

Voting will take place September 6 for 11 of the Territorial Assembly's 20 seats.

The 20 members of the Territorial Assembly will then elect their representative to the French Senate on September 27.
