HONOLULU, Hawaii (July 30, 1998 -PIDP/CPIS/Hulsen)--U. S. President Bill Clinton signed into law today legislation eliminating the separate ballot requirement for the election of Guam's delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington.

The incumbent delegate, Congressman Robert A. Underwood, said the new law is expected to save Guam taxpayers some US$ 10,000 in extra printing and processing costs per election.

The requirement for a separate ballot was implemented in 1972, but Underwood said "no one can figure out why."
