SUVA, Fiji Islands (September 4, 1998 - Radio Australia)---There is concern in New Zealand that more than 100 Air New Zealand workers may lose their jobs to lower paid Fijian workers if an offshore contracting plan is implemented.

The fears arose after the airline, which today posted a US$ 70 million dollar profit, proposed contracting out much of its accounting work.

A company spokesman said about 50 computer data entry jobs and approximately 50 additional positions would be lost under the proposal.
