HONIARA, Solomon Islands (September 14, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)--- Member of Parliament Lester Saomasi has announced he is rejoining the Alliance for Change Government of Prime Minister Bartholomew Ulufa'alu.

Saomasi resigned as Minister of Indigenous Business early last month and joined the Opposition group.

In a media statement, Saomasi said he had notified Opposition Leader Job Duddley Tausinga of his withdrawal.

He said his decision was based on a desire to be fully accountable to the voters of the Solomon Islands, particularly his constituency of West Honiara, in light of the country's difficult economic situation and the need to assure the country's return to political stability.
