PAPUA NEW GUINEA GOVERNMENT ASSISTS HOSPITALS

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (September 14, 1998/PACNEWS/Amy)---Papua New Guinea's national government has provided K 2.5 million ($US 1.05 million) in aid to the nation's public hospitals.

Minister for Health Ludger Mond said the funds will help pay outstanding bills, some of which date as far back as 1996.

Mond said electricity bills for all hospitals except Port Moresby General now have been settled.
