YAREN, Nauru (September 21, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)---Nauru's President Bernard Dowiyogo last week urged the Members of Parliament to implement key economic and social reform programs.

He said the reforms must be implemented now, before the national situation slides to a point of social disintegration and the breakdown of the economy.

Two bills to be debated in Parliament are the new Public Service Bill and the government's Supply Finance Bill for 1998-1999.

The Public Service Bill is intended to lower government expenses and improve public services.

The Supply Finance Bill , expected to be implemented by the end of this month, will provide funding for government operations when the current supplementary budget runs out.
