FIJI'S TOURISM EMPLOYEES HELP DROUGHT VICTIMS

SUVA, Fiji Islands (September 25, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)---Fiji's tourism industry has "pitched in" to help generate relief money for drought victims in the northern and western divisions.

A F$ 50,000 check ($US 24,290) was presented to Tourism Minister David Pickering by Fijian Resort Manager and hotel representative Radike Qereqeretabua.

The donation marks the official launch of the tourism industry's Sugar Cane Farmers Disaster Fund, a relief project aimed at encouraging industry employees to help drought victims.
