PORT VILA, Vanuatu (September 30, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)---Pentecost Island's Member of Parliament, Jonas Tabi, has indicated a need for the Vanuatu Commodities Marketing Board (VCMB) to review kava prices.

Tabi said prices set by VCMB are too low, adding that kava buyers are enjoying significantly increased profits compared to that being earned by growers.

Kava growers, he said, should have a say in determining kava prices because of the amount of labor involved in cultivating the plants.

Pentecost Island is one of the main suppliers of kava in Vanuatu.
