FIJI LAUNCHES MOSQUITO ERADICATION CAMPAIGN

SUVA, Fiji Islands (October 9, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)---The Suva City Council has launched a major campaign to rid the capital city of mosquito breeding grounds in an effort to minimize the possibility of another dengue fever outbreak.

The Australian government donated equipment to the council's health department to help carry out tests on mosquito breeding areas.

Suva Major Dansukh Lal Bhika says millions of dollars were spent during last year's outbreak and said it is important take the appropriate measures to prevent a similar outbreak again.
