COMPLAINT OVER US$ 1.23 MILLION AMERICAN SAMOA LAND SALE

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (October 9 1998 - Samoa News/Amy)---The sale of Gataivai land to the American Samoa Government for US$ 1.23 million has resulted in a complaint filed in the High Court of American Samoa by the heirs of the traditional land owner, the late Laulusa Siutulei Tualapapa.

The heirs are taking Atiumaletavai Tovea Tupa‘i, the American Samoa Government and Governor Tauese Sunia to court for breaches of fiduciary duties and claims for equitable compensation and damages over the land deal.

The Gataivai land is home to the government's fuel tank farm.
