HONIARA, Solomon Islands (November 2, 1998 - PACNEWS/Amy)---A Solomon Islands government report says the nation is appallingly behind on numerous membership dues owed to international organizations and claims the situation is "urgent."

The report, compiled Dr. William Sutherland of Australia and presented in Parliament by Foreign Affairs Minister Patteson Oti, says any further delays will cause more embarrassment and limit potential benefits to the Solomon Islands.

The government was given two options to clear its arrears, either pay as many as possible or negotiate to reschedule the payments.
