An agreement has been reached with the company, the Governor said, for operations to commence March 1, using the now closed BCTC-Samoa facility.

The Governor also said the company from California has hired a cannery executive to prepare for the company's official opening, including the hiring of local employees.

South Pacific Garments is expected to hire 150 off-island workers and about 200 local employees.

The company is being offered a reduction in its lease if it hires more locals.
