NUKU‘ALOFA, Tonga (November 13, 1998 - PACNEWS)---Three Tongan fishermen have arrived on Fiji's Vatoa Island after drifting at sea for more than ten days.

Fiji's Navy reported that the trio -- Semisi Maloni, Ului Fifita and Mataimai Fonua -- are safe and in good health.

Tonga's Deputy Police Commander, Taniela Faletau, said the fisherman arrived on Vatoa Island, southeast of the main Fiji island of Viti Levu, on Wednesday evening.

The men were last seen fishing in waters off Ha‘apai, Faletau said, when they encountered engine problems and drifted out to sea.

Arrangements are being made for the fishermen to return to Tonga.
