PORT VILA, Vanuatu (November 18, 1998 - Radio Australia)---The government of Vanuatu says it will terminate its contract with the Niscol stevedoring company, which currently operates the Luganville wharf in Espiritu Santo.

A new Ports Corporation has been appointed to take over Santo's stevedoring services as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Niscol has been asked to provide wharf services on a month-to-month basis.

Last week the government's Council of Ministers received a report that the company was operating in violation of its government contract.
